a code of criminal laws were presented to the Legislature and scanned closely through the day without ^the^ assembly passing one section of the bill The Governor made some interesting remarks to his council in the evening The Legislature met again on the morrow and both houses sat in joint session. The criminal code of laws was re-taken up and during the day there were many interesting debates upon the subject from many members of both houses. The Governor in his remarks said the law was written in their hearts and it was difficult to put it upon paper and even in criminal cases it should be left much to the discretion of the Court. Only three sections of the Bill passed during the day.
