Thus The Apostle Erastus Snow has left us, and gone into the spirit world to Join with the rest of the Apostles He making the Twelfth Apostle who has died in the Church since our Arival into these vallies on the 27 July 1847 My turn must soon come I Pray God I may be prepared for that solemn Event, which awaits us all. I feel left almost alone, as I am the ownly Man living who was An Apostle in the days of Joseph the Prophet

Letter to Charles O. Card, 25 May 1888
Elder C. O. Card Alberta Dear Brother: Your very encouraging favor of April 30th reached me at Manti where I had gone with a few other brethren to privately dedicate the Temple before the public ceremonies took place, from which we were debarred by circumstances which you will understand. Those, however, who did have the privilege of being present declared that no such outpouring of the Spirit of the Lord and extent of spiritual manifestations have occurred since the dedication of the Kirtland Temple. While the eyes and ears of all were not open to see and to hear these things to the extent that were some of them brethren and sisters, yet all testify that the Divine Spirit of love, joy and peace was poured out upon them in rich abundance, and that it was one of the most delightful and happy experiences of their whole life . . . Your brother in the Gospel. Wilford Woodruff.
Letter from Marriner Wood Merrill, 25 May 1888
Prest Wilford Woodruff Dear Brother As the Utah Marriage law will soon be in force, I would like your councel on some points there are ^a^ number of Brethern and Sisters who come to the Temple to get their endowments and be sealed, who have in maney instances been married perhaps in England and other parts of the world, is it our duty to require a licence of such people, and maney of our young people have been married by the Bishop and others, and have children must they bring a licence also, it seemes to me to conflict with the Edmunds Tucker law of of marriage, the Edmunds T Law requires a certificate of marriage to be filed in the county court where the ceremoney is performed, and the Utah law requires the certificate to be filed in the County where the licence is isued, it seems to me that to comply with Law two certificates must be filed for the same marrige where the parties live out of the county
