Letter from Charles Drake Cazier, 1 June 1890

Afton Pres W. Woodruff Dear Bro I thought I would write you a few lines in regard to the situation of the people in this, and the lower Valley, as the Wheat that was got from Bear Lake in behalf of the poor. I have given Orders to the full amount, and there is a great many of the people needing bread, now, we have no way of getting any, unless we can obtain assistance from some sourc. Bro A. Gardner tell's me that the first presidentcy of the Church had voted a large amount of Wheat but I think a smaller amount would suffice for the present. I think if we h could get One thousand bushels of Wheat we could get through utill harvest. On account of the bad state of the roads between Star Valley and Bear Lake Valley we could not get it in, in time for seed. So a smaller amount will do for provisions. Would you please be kind enough to let me know what arrangements you may make in regard to this matter. Your resp C D Cazier Bishop
