Cash to Susan 5
Letter from Thomas Edwin Ricks, James Henry Hart, and Joseph Coulson Rich, 2 June 1890
Paris, Bear Lake Co., Idaho, . Prests. Wilford Woodruff and Joseph F. Smith, Dear Brethren Your favor of June 2nd was received this morning the papers and books were received on Sunday, for which you will please accept our thanks. The instructions given in your letter commend themselves to our judgement and the case will be withdrawn as suggested. The Longhurst Brothers from Iona came here on Sat. last on the same business we advised them not to apply for their papers at this time but for some reason one of them made application and was of course refused. The District Atty Whittier appeared as his witness—said in answer to the usual questions that he had known the applicant 15 years, was of good moral character—and had never heard of any thing against him except that he is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints, and for this he challenged him. The Court refused his application and peavishly complained that the Atty Mr Hawley was trying to precipitate these cases on the Court, which he declined to consider
