President Wilford Woodruff and counsellors, My Dearly Beloved Leaders: I am sorry to have to report to you, that the bearer of this note, Brother Heber J. Wagstaff, who has been suffering for some time with asthma and symptoms of other serious complaints, has suddenly been taken much worse, and I deemed it advisable to release him to return to his home, where I trust with proper care and treatment he may again be restored to health.
