Joseph Hewes

Joseph Hewes (1730-1799) was born in 1730 near Kingston, Somerset Co., New Jersey, British Colonial America. He was the son of Aaron Hewes and Providence Worth. He died 10 Nov. 1799 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia Co., Pennsylvania. He was a signer of the Declaration of Independence and one of the eminent men for whom Wilford Woodruff initiated proxy temple ordinance work in Aug. 1877.
